Ricardo Vargas Carpintero – Research Associate, Department of Biobased Resources in the Bioeconomy, University of Hohenheim
Ricardo Vargas Carpintero is a Research Associate in the Department of Biobased Resources in the Bioeconomy at the University of Hohenheim. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas in Bogotá, Colombia, a master's degree in bioeconomy from the University of Hohenheim, and a doctorate from the University of Hohenheim. His research focuses on the design and development of regional biobased value chains and value webs, with an emphasis on novel crops and forest-based bioeconomy systems in Latin America. His interests include innovation systems and the management and governance of socio-biodiverse and forest-based value chains and webs. He also leads the ABBEE (Accelerating the Transition Toward the Bio-Based Economy via Education) project, which developed the MOOC Concepts of a Sustainable Bioeconomy.
