Gary Dunning (M.F. ’96) and Thomas RaShad Easley (M.F. ISU ‘00, Ed.D. NCSU ’13) launched a short course on Leadership for Forest Steward Professionals for second year forestry and forest-oriented masters students. The course enhances leadership skills in forest and environmental management around the themes of managing conflict, professional ethics, supporting a diverse workforce, and working with people and oneself. Speakers selected for the Yale Forest Forum lunch series served as guest presenters for the course, which offered students the opportunity to directly engage with leaders in the following forestry sectors:
- Managing Forester - Blake Troxel, Presidio Trust (M.F. ‘12)
- Government Agency - Gary Barrett, US Forest Service (M.F. ‘96)
- Environmental Organization - Kerry Cesareo, WWF (M.E.M. ‘01)
- Corporate - Ivone Satsuki Namikawa, Klabin (TFD Co-Leader)
