Chris Meyer

Senior Manager, Amazon Forest Policy

Environmental Defense Fund

Chris Meyer leads EDF’s work with indigenous peoples in Central and South America, advocacy in multilateral policy making spaces such as the UNFCCC, and global supply chain commitments related to zero-deforestation.

He works directly with indigenous leaders, communities and organizations to insert indigenous rights and interests into national and international climate policies and to explore best practices for developing economic activities around environmental services. Chris currently leads advocacy efforts in the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), UN-REDD program, and EDF’s forest conservation policy efforts in the UNFCCC.

Chris’s areas of expertise include tropical deforestation, indigenous peoples of Central and South America, zero-deforestation supply chain commitments, and best practices in reducing emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD+).
