Professor Alon Tal is a researcher at Ben Gurion University of the Negev’s Desert Research Institutes. Prior to this post, he was the founding director of the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, the country’s leading environmental advocacy organization and the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies, an advanced training center for Middle Eastern students. Until recently, he served as chair of Israel’s green party. He also chairs the committee that oversees forestry policy for Israel.
