BEF Opportunities for Working Forests and Climate Mitigation

Enviva is the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets, a renewable alternative to coal and other fossil fuels. Enviva’s Director of Sustainability will introduce Enviva’s biomass supply chain, sourcing practices, and the impacts of forest products markets on land use and management in the US South. The presentation will focus on the contribution of sustainably sourced biomass from working forests to a systems-level approach to climate change mitigation and the transition to a circular economy.

Kim is Director of Sustainability at Enviva, the world’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets, a renewable alternative to coal. Kim and her team are broadly responsible for Enviva’s sustainability initiatives, including the management of Enviva’s Responsible Sourcing Policy, Track & Trace® supply chain program, and commercial sustainability fulfilment as well as the sustainability aspects of Enviva’s ESG disclosures, net-zero goal, and external stakeholder engagement. Kim is a member of the Sustainable Biomass Program’s Technical Committee and holds a Master’s degree in Forestry and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, as well as a BS in Biology from Xavier University.
