The presentation will give a brief overview on Morocco's forests sector. It will focus on the financing mechanisms and products for different value chains and operators. It will tackle the constraints and future perspectives of the sector.

Speaker Biography

A trained agricultural engineer, Mariem Dkhil is the Sustainable Finance specialist at Crédit Agricole du Maroc (CAM), a leading Moroccan bank in agriculture financing. She is one of the promoters of responsible agricultural financing approach. Her projects and achievements include the implementation of a social and environmental management system within the bank, the development of new products and services for climate-smart agriculture and the contribution to responsible agricultural supply chains.

She is also committed to sharing the bank’s expertise with African financial institutions in order to improve smallholder farmers financing and to mobilize higher investment amounts for the adaptation of African agriculture. Previously, she contributed to the creation of CAM’s subsidiary Tamwil El Fellah, a financing company for smallholder farmers excluded from traditional bank financing.

Mariem is also a member of the Executive Board of Crédit Agricole du Maroc Foundation for Sustainable Development, and a member of the Executive Committee of the African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA). She graduated from AgroParisTech as Agricultural Engineer and she holds a Master’s Degree in Rural Development Economics from the University of Montpellier (France).
